YHN Community Fund 2023/2024 – Supporting our local communities

A little more about the fund 

The YHN Community Fund aims to have a positive impact on the communities and neighbourhoods, primarily where YHN has homes, and invest in community projects and partners to help contribute further to the amazing work already happening.

The fund is open to voluntary and community sector organisations in Newcastle to apply for grant awards of up to £1,000. One successful bid is permitted for each community group/ organisation.  

What kind of projects are we looking for? 

We are keen on supporting projects that help tackle and broadly focus on the cost of living crisis and making living easier, such as:

• Projects that help promote healthier lifestyles and tackle social isolation and loneliness. 
• Projects that support and build stronger communities and improve the look and feel of neighbourhoods.
• Projects that improve access to local services and help make the most from household income. 

What else are we looking for? 

Projects that promote engaging our diverse communities and bringing people together. 

Let’s look at projects we have supported: 

Last year’s YHN Community Fund supported a range of amazing projects, ranging from a community organisation that brings the voices of African women and ethnic minority groups together; to a community support service to help people who need company, a warm space, food, and advice. There was also a project designed to engage young, isolated LGBTQIA+ people in arts and crafts; an afterhours school programme to improve confidence and self-esteem of young people and a project to reduce loneliness and isolation, which helped build confidence and new friendships through cooking and woodwork classes, and many more.

What happens after my application has been considered by the funding panel?

• If your application is successful, we will be in touch to let you know and whether your grant award will be either part or fully funded.
• If your application is unsuccessful, we will be in touch to let you know. 
• We will not get in touch until after the closing date for applications. 

PLEASE NOTE that individuals cannot apply to the fund and eligibility criteria applies.
